Cable Operators
Federation of India (COFI)
is a national level,
registered, non-profit
organization with head
office in New Delhi
with its executive
members spread-out all
over India and with
membership of more
than 23,000 cable
operators (Delhi alone
accounts for 1200).
COFI was founded in
August 1993 with the
primary aim of forming
a unifield body to
represent India cable
operators at national
and international
levels and with the
strong determination
to unite all State
Associations and bring
them under one
powerful
representation.
Some of the
achievements of COFI
are recognition of
Cable TV operation as
Small Scale Industry,
modification of the
Cable TV Networks
(Regulation) Bill,
putting an end to the
exploitation of
operators by the
copyright owners and
introducing some self
regulatory measures.
It also takes up
social welfare issues
at national level on
behalf of cable
operators.
COFI has a strong
strength of 23.000
cable operators from
38 different
associations of India.
COFI has
representation in
various Government
committees related to
Cable TV Industry
including the Bureau
of Indian Standards
for quality cable TV
equipment.
COFI has a mutual
affiliation with
CASBAA (Cable and
Satellite Broadcasters
Association of Asia)
based in Hong Kong,
FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM,
OFCOM, NCTA, PEMRA
etc. |
